Dr. Jack Anderson
Dr. Jack Anderson is a clinical psychologist serving as consultant and Director for the Officer Care and Development department at THQ. He has been a California State Licensed Psychologist since 1987 and is a soldier (member) of the Pasadena Tabernacle corps (church). Jack has ministry degrees from Asbury Seminary (MDiv) and Princeton Seminary (ThM), and earned his doctorate in Clinical Psychology at Fuller Theological Seminary (PhD). His consultation includes working with individuals, families and groups in integrating psychological health with Christian beliefs and ministry. In addition to his primary work with the Army, he provides member care and consultation with mission organizations positioned in several Asian countries. He also conducts psychological evaluations for ministry candidates in several denominations. He considers his therapeutic orientation to be in the realms of Positive Psychology, Cognitive Behavioral Psychology and Existential Psychology. Jack is married to Barbara, a recently retired nurse manager at UCLA. They have two adult daughters, Laura and Julia, and four grandchildren.
Dr. Andrew Barton (Board Chair)
Andrew currently serves as Director of Development (Principal Gifts) at Cedars-Sinai. He holds a Doctorate of Education in Organizational Leadership and most recently served as Vice President for Advancement at Azusa Pacific University. Andrew is a former member of the Pasadena Tabernacle Corps and has held staff roles with The Salvation Army at Divisional Headquarters in Los Angeles and Territorial Headquarters in London.
Mr. Henry Bazak
Henry is a retired Senior Project Engineer at The Aerospace Corporation in El Segundo, CA. Henry is a registered Professional Engineer in CA and has over 40 years of engineering management and design experience. His expertise is in large space-based systems and space business development/management. Henry has earned an Executive MBA from UCLA, an MSEE from San Diego State University, and a BSEE from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University. Henry is married and has one daughter.
Captain Jennifer Bearchell
Jennifer has served as a Salvation Army officer in several corps appointments throughout Los Angeles, Las Vegas, and Turin, Italy. Most recently, she has had the privilege of serving as the Divisional Youth and Candidates Secretary for the Southwest Division. Jennifer has been married to her husband, Ryan “Bear,” for 20 years, and together they have three children: Beckham, Capri, and Luci.
Captain Jacob Bratton
Captain Jacob discovered his calling to officership through his experiences at Pine Summit Camp in Big Bear, California. After several years of discerning and wrestling with that calling, he and his wife, Captain Danielle, entered the College for Officer Training. They were commissioned in 2018 as members of the Messengers of the Gospel Session and appointed to Hilo, Hawaii, where they served during and in the aftermath of the Kīlauea volcano eruption. They were subsequently appointed to Ogden, Utah, where they played a key role in advancing a 52-unit Silvercrest housing development from planning through the start of construction. Captain Jacob and Captain Danielle currently serve as Corps Officers in Cheyenne, Wyoming, where they also serve as the Salvation Army's Statewide Coordinators for Wyoming.
Dr. Mary Docter
Mary is a professor of Spanish and Chair of the Modern Language Department at Westmont College, where she has served since 1992. She received her Ph.D. in Hispanic Languages and Literatures from UCLA, where she also earned her M.A. and B.A. degrees. With generous funding from an Irvine Diversity Grant, Mary co-founded the Westmont in Mexico program, a semester-long immersion program in Querétaro, Mexico, and has led and/or supervised the program since 2004. In addition to Latin American literature, her principal areas of interest include global education and the development of intercultural competence. She is a life-long member of the Salvation Army Pasadena Tabernacle, where she has served as a band member, YPSM (lay Youth pastor), and Sunday School teacher. She is also a member of the Salvation Army Santa Barbara Advisory Board.
Dr. Sharon Docter (Board Secretary & Committee Chair)
Sharon is a Professor of Communication at California Lutheran University, where she has served as Chair of the Faculty, Chair of the Appointment, Rank and Tenure Committee, and as a Department Chair. She serves as the Chair of the Academic Committee of the Board. She received her Ph.D. from the Annenberg School for Communication at the University of Southern California, her J.D. from the UCLA School of Law and her B.A. in English from UCLA. She is a member of the California Bar and worked as an Associate Attorney with the law firm of Brobeck, Phleger & Harrison. Docter currently serves as the Corps Sergeant Major of The Salvation Army Pasadena Tabernacle Corps.
Lt. Colonel Shari Fowler
Shari has been an officer for 32 years, commissioned in 1992 in the “Followers of Jesus” session of cadets. She has served in 14 different appointments in 5 different states and in the Republic of the Marshall Islands where she was responsible for developing and leading the Ministry Training Center. She has served in multiple Corps appointments and spent 15 years in recovery ministry. She has a bachelor’s degree in Family Studies and a Master’s degree in Counseling. She has been married 36 years, has four adult children and five grandchildren.
Dr. James Hartman
Jim served as Director of Institutional Planning and Accreditation at CFOT from August of 2008 to August of 2017. He had served as Chair of the College’s Advisory Board for several years and during the Northridge Earthquake served on the Public Information staff of the College in 1994. He has extensive knowledge of higher education having worked at the Vice-Presidential level at Ohio University, Radford University and California State University, Dominguez Hills as a graduate faculty/administrator. Prior to serving in the accreditation area at CFOT, he served as the Finance Officer at Chadwick School, a distinguished private K-12 school on the Palos Verdes Peninsula. He has extensive experience with international education, residential learning programs, student recruitment and enrollment, and the assessment of student learning.
Jhoana Hirasuna
Jhoana Hirasuna is the Executive Director of Foothill Unity Center Inc, a non-profit serving low-income families and individuals. Her 20+ year career includes six and a half years with the Salvation Army Pasadena and 12 years with Pacific Clinics Passageways, working with people experiencing homelessness, mental illness, and substance abuse. She holds a B.A. from CSU Fullerton and an MSW from Arizona State University.
Ms. Elizabeth Kronbeck (Committee Chair)
Beth is the chair of the Social Sciences division at Glendale Community College. Additionally, she is a tenured professor, served on the Curriculum & Instruction Committee, served on the Academic Senate, Program Review Committee, and as the Faculty Coordinator of Accreditation and Planning. She has a MA in History from CSULA, a MA in American Studies from CSUF and a BA in English from UCLA.
Mr. Chris Looney
Chris Looney, the Founder and CEO of Fulcrum Nonprofit Leadership, has committed his professional life to the advancement of the nonprofit sector. Today, Chris is most interested in elevating the field of nonprofit leadership and the capacity of nonprofit executives to succeed. For nearly 25 years, Chris provided advice, guidance, and support to hundreds of organizations in his role as a senior leader for CCS Fundraising, one of the nation’s largest and most successful fundraising consulting firms. During his tenure with the firm, Chris partnered with thousands of nonprofit executives and hundreds of clients, facilitating billions of dollars to be raised. Through the years, Chris also served in key leadership positions connected to the nonprofit sector and philanthropy. After decades working on the front lines of fundraising and strategy, guiding, and advising a multitude of nonprofits and nonprofit executives on philanthropic initiatives, Chris developed the Fulcrum concept alongside his other companies and book writing efforts. Chris is the author of two fundraising books, The Five Tool Fundraiser and 365 Fundraising Truisms. Chris and his wife, Anisha, live in Irvine, California with their three children. The family is actively involved with the local public school district, local little league, a number of charities, and Mariners Church.
Ms. Pili Martinez Moore
Pili Martinez Moore has supported Corps Ministries in the Western Territory for over 20 years. Her main goal is to advocate for ethnic officers and ministries and provide resources and support. Her passions are discipleship, church life, and ministries among minority communities. She brings tremendous personal experience and professional training, giving her a broad view of the church's ministry within The Salvation Army. This year Pili hopes to start her Master's in Global Studies at Arizona State University.
Dr. Ruth Mulnard (Committee Chair)
Ruth is Professor Emerita at the Sue and Bill Gross School of Nursing and the Institute for Clinical and Translational Science at the University of California Irvine where she has been an educator and researcher for more than thirty years. Ruth holds a doctoral degree in nursing science from the University of San Diego. Ruth currently serves as the Chair of the Cadet Life Committee, and represents the Board on the Territorial Candidates Council.
Lieutenant Sean Pease
Commissioned in 2024, Captain Sean currently serves as the Corps Officer in Kalispell, Montana He is committed to serving the community through compassionate ministry, spiritual leadership, and outreach that reflects the mission of The Salvation Army.
Dr. F. Leland (Lee) Reitler
Lee earned his undergraduate degree at Claremont College in Pomona. He attended medical school and completed his residency in Family Medicine at the University of California, Los Angeles. Dr. Reitler is board certified in Family Medicine and holds a master's degree in Business Administration (MBA). Though now retired, he continues to use his years of experience in primary care medicine and his MBA towards his passion of improving the efficiency of health care delivery and for primary care medicine.
Mr. Dean Reuter
Dean is a licensed architect in California, previously managing Reuter and Reuter, Inc. in Torrance, CA as his own company since 1990. He is an active Rotarian, having served as President of the Del Amo Club in 2008-2009. He was the designer for the Journey of Faith Church in Torrance, CA. He graduated from the University of Southern California School of Architecture and Fine Arts and retired from the Army Corps of Engineers with the rank of Captain with the Army Commendation medal with oak leaf cluster. In 2011 he received the Distinguished Citizen of the Year Award by the Torrance Area Chamber of Commerce.
Mr. Viktor Rzeteljski (Board Treasurer & Committee Chair)
Viktor serves as the Treasurer of the Board and is the Chair of the Business Administration and Advancement Committee. He serves as Board member, advisor and volunteer to over a dozen organizations meeting the social, educational, business, and religious needs of the community in the Los Angeles area. Prior to his retirement, Viktor worked 35 years for KPMG in various capacities including partner and business leader of consulting, audit, and tax practices. Viktor is a CPA and earned a degree in Business Administration from USC.
Isabelle Saber
Isabelle Saber is a newly retired educator whose career spanned 17 years of mathematics instruction, followed by ten years in various administrative roles as dean and vice president of instruction, all in the California Community College System. During the past decade, she was heavily involved in the crafting of Master Plans and accreditation reports; the selection of upward of 70 faculty and administrative employees; and the oversight of the faculty tenure process. Furthermore, she was responsible for the budget development in all academic areas, alongside the oversight of curriculum, instructional program development and revisions, catalog production, course scheduling, and meeting institutional enrollment targets.
Isabelle emigrated to the US in 1987 as a young adult and is fluent in four languages, currently working on perfecting a fifth. Her own mixed family background, travels, and exposure to many communities of color through her profession have facilitated her understanding of the challenges faced by various groups and reinforced in her the value of listening without judgment and approaching all living creatures with humility and compassion.
Major Osei Stewart
Osei has nearly three decades of service throughout the USA Western Territory. Currently serving as Divisional Commander of the Del Oro Division, he has held appointments ranging from Corps Officer to Divisional leadership and General Secretary at the Divisional Headquarters — each role deepening his commitment to people and sharpening his gifts as a leader.
A gifted speaker and teacher, Major Stewart brings clarity, conviction, and grace. He holds a Master of Science in Leadership from Colangelo College of Business at Grand Canyon University. He is also the author of the forthcoming book Before You Were Ready: A Practical Guide for New Managers — a resource born from his years of developing and leading people at every level of an organization.
Beyond ministry, Major Stewart is an accomplished singer-songwriter and performer who has graced stages worldwide. His passions include basketball, composing music, and exploring the latest in technology. Grounded in faith and anchored by the Greatest Commandments — Love God and Love People — he is dedicated to making a lasting impact, one life and one community at a time.
Mr. David Tomblin
David began his real estate career as the founding partner of Tomblin & Associates, a family real estate partnership formed in 1974. Mr. Tomblin currently serves as President/Chief Executive Officer of Tomblin Asset Management Group, Inc., a real estate investment, development, and management firm which was founded in 1992 to service the expanding real estate ownership, with offices and operations in California, Arizona, New Jersey, Wisconsin, Washington and Minnesota. Tomblin Asset Management Group, and its affiliated partnerships and entities, has invested in, managed and re-developed real estate assets and investments of over $1.1 billion. In 2012, Highgrove Holdings Management, LLC, was formed as an affiliate of Tomblin Asset Management Group, Inc.
Colonel Ivan Wild (Board Vice Chair)
Ivan is currently the Chief Secretary for the USA Western Territory Colonel. His most recent appointments include Territorial Secretary for Personnel and Divisional Commander. Ivan has an M.A. in Theology.
