The Salvation Army College for Officer Training, Western USA Territory (CFOT) is accredited by the Accrediting Commission for Community and Junior Colleges, 428 J Street, Suite 400, Sacramento, CA 95814, (415) 506-0234, an institutional accrediting body recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation and the U.S. Department of Education. Additional information about accreditation, including the filing of complaints against member institutions, can be found at www.accjc.org.
Accreditation CycleEvery eight years, CFOT conducts a comprehensive self-evaluation to assess its ongoing compliance with the ACCJC Accreditation Standards. Through its Institutional Self-Evaluation Report (ISER), the College documents the quality and effectiveness of its programs, services, and institutional practices, while demonstrating how it fulfills its mission and achieves its goals for student learning and achievement.
During the comprehensive peer review, an evaluation team examines the ISER to verify and validate the College's self-assessment, identify additional areas of strength or opportunities for improvement, and determine the extent to which the institution meets the Accreditation Standards. The ACCJC Commission then considers both the ISER and the peer review team's report when determining the College's accredited status.
2026 Comprehensive Evaluation
In December 2025, CFOT submitted its Institutional Self-Evaluation Report (ISER) as part of the 2026 Comprehensive Evaluation process. The ISER has since been reviewed by the evaluation team, which will visit campus for the comprehensive site visit on September 21–22, 2026. Below is the timeline for CFOT’s current comprehensive evaluation process.
2019 Comprehensive Evaluation
Following submission of its 2019 ISER and a comprehensive multi-day visit from a team of peer-evaluators, the ACCJC, at its January, 2020 meeting, reaffirmed CFOT's accreditation status for seven years.
