| The
Salvation Army Museum Of The West Loan Policy
The Museum of the
West does not loan materials from the collection to outside
agencies or to The Salvation Army “field”. This
policy aligns with the responsibility of the Museum of the
West to preserve as well as exhibit historical materials which
have been committed to its care through donors to the collection.
An exception may
occur in regards to a loan to a larger museum that has formal
loan policies in place. Such requests would be considered
case-by-case and requested terms would be altered to best
suit our needs in terms of handling instructions, including
environment, security, insurance, shipping, term of loan,
etc. We will only do this type of loan with a cultural institution-museum,
etc.
Loan requests from
The Salvation Army “field” are generally not possible
unless the Museum Curator or designee comes with the object
(s), and all associated travel expenses are covered. This
requirement is in place since environment, security, etc.
outside a museum or archives cannot be guaranteed. This is
the minimum requirement that would need to be met in support
of continuing our trust relationship with donors to the collection.
