Mary Estill (Barber) 1863-1942
Commissioner Mary Estill, along with her husband, lead the Department
of the West, which included what is now the USA Western Territory,
from 1908-1920. When the nation was divided into territories,
in 1920, Commissioner Mary Estill was transferred with her husband
to head the ministry of the Eastern Territory. At
age fourteen Mary Estill gave her life to Christ in a Christian
Mission Hall (The Salvation Army was originally known as The
Christian Mission), which was the start of her life-long service
to both the Army and the Lord. Mary
became a lieutenant at age sixteen and served with distinction
in both the UK and the USA.
