The purpose of the Jerre and Mary Joy Stead School for Leadership Development (SLD) is to provide continuing education opportunities for newly commissioned Officers. As part of their promotion to the rank of Captain, Lieutenants in their first five-years of officership are required to successfully complete five School for Leadership Development courses. Courses are designed to fulfill current needs of officers to prepare them for effective and vibrant leadership in The Salvation Army.
Additionally, the SLD exists to equip officers, employees, soldiers, and volunteers with essential leadership and team development skills to make a lasting impact in their
ministry, workplace, and communities. The School for Leadership Development (SLD) offers a wide array of courses to enhance leadership abilities and expand knowledge.
