The Conquerors

Anchorage, Alaska Brigade

March 17-24 , 2008
Written by: Cadet Marianneke Summerfield

Under the leadership of Major Mario Reyes, the Conquerors Brigade had the privilege of spending their Spring Campaigns week in Anchorage, Alaska. Using Romans 8:37 as their verse (and name inspiration), the Conquerors left Crestmont with a fire for God and a desire to witness to the victory found in Christ.

Home to a great amount of Social Service programs per capita in the Western Territory, the cadets came to Anchorage with a schedule full of experiences and opportunities to minister in a variety of ways.  The cadets (Joseph and Dina Cisneros, Robert Davidson, Eric Park, Stephanie Puza, Craig and Marianneke Summerfield, and Sheri Wetter), interacted with homeless families at McKinnell House, men in recovery at the Adult Rehabilitation Program, and young women in need of help at Booth Home, as well as visiting other people at places like Serendipity Adult Day Care and Divisional Headquarters.

As this week was Holy Week, the brigade participated on the corps level with Evangelistic Campaigns, a youth rally, and other meetings meant for spiritual revival found through Christ’s death and resurrection.

The natural beauty of Alaska was breathtaking and the Conquerors were able to interact with many aspects of God’s wonderful creation!  Whether they were praying over members of God’s family, singing praises, hunting for Easter eggs, or marveling at the moose – the Conquerors were able to give God the glory.   The brigade worked well together and were able to shine for God in Anchorage, at the same time having their own hearts warmed through the amazing people and ministries there!
