Our
newly appointed and recently installed Training Principal, Major
Tim Foley, is a man of mission; his twenty-nine years of experience
as an officer and his tenure as our Assistant Principal has reinforced
in him the importance of unity, commitment to team, and an unswerving
passion for the practical ministry and mission of The Salvation
Army. He is The Salvation Army wherever he goes. He is The CFOT
wherever he goes. He is determined to make, and he will make a
very positive difference in our world at Crestmont.
He and his spouse, Major Cindy Foley*, pledged at their installation
“to work with the cadets, faculty and staff to enhance mission
by promoting our shared values of excellence, faith, leadership
and service.” By now, we know that the people make any institution
what it is. The Foleys are committed as officers and as a family
to continue to promote the CFOT cause in the Western Territory
– to the College and its cadets, to the corps where we worship,
to the places we do business, to the homes and residence halls
where we dwell – Crestmont is our home, and they are committed
as our college leaders to make the College a loving and soul and
spirit-filled place. They will further reinforce the Army’s
identity and mission; they are here through their love of God
and their spirit of sharing, welcoming, accepting, and providing
hospitality infuses the souls and spirits of all of us who are
part of the College. For them, mission matters.

Major
Foley completed his Master of Arts in Theology from Fuller Theological
Seminary in June of 2000. His Associate degree was awarded by Azusa
Pacific University even though he completed his work here at CFOT
in 1982. He has had an outstanding record as a teacher at the College,
having developed and taught courses in ethics, theology, pastoral
care and church history. In the fall of 2010, Major Foley was publically
honored by the Palos Verdes Peninsula Rotary Club on the Peninsula
as one of the Educators of the Year. Prior to coming to Crestmont
in 2000, he served with Cindy as the first administrators at the
Ray and Joan Kroc Corps Community Center in San Diego, as a Divisional
Youth Secretary in San Francisco and as a Corps Officer in five
different appointments between 1982 and 1997.
The Foleys have three children. Laura is a senior majoring in English
Education at Cal Poly Pomona. Alex, their son, is an actor appearing
on the Disney Channel, and he will graduate this spring from Rancho
Del Mar High School on the Peninsula. The youngest daughter, Victoria,
is finishing her middle school education this year at Miraleste
Middle School. The Foleys are a vibrant and vital family, actively
engaged in support of one another, the College and The Salvation
Army.
Jim Reeves, the Chair of the Crestmont Council, praised “Major
Foley for his honesty and forthrightness in dealing directly and
realistically with challenges and for his record of commitment to
the College and The Salvation Army.” Major Foley will enhance
the tradition at Crestmont of effective leadership. For that, we
are all very grateful.
