National Salvation Army Week

May 10 - 14, 2010

Crestmont celebrated National Salvation Army Week in a big way this year with something different and special going on every day May 10th through May 14, 2010.

In junction with the celebration, Crestmont's Core Values were prominently displayed around campus by way of banners, posters and multi-media displays.

On Tuesday, May 11, Captain Ken Perine took part in the Chapel service to speak about the Core Value "Love for God who loved us first" from 1 John 4:10.  Other officers gave of their time to Chapel services on Wednesday and Thursday; Major Beth Paugh spoke of our Core Value "Integrity and Character" from Titus 2:7 and Major Susan Won spoke of our Core Value "Kindness and Humility" from Micah 6:8.

The Elftman Memorial Library and The Museum of the West added to the event with colorful and dynamic displays around campus.

Good music and good food was also a big part of the week long celebrations - kudos to our fantastic catering staff CulinArt!  Special morning breaks were held in the Main Lounge for officers, cadets and employees to enjoy and share in good fellowship.  Then on Thursday evening a big bar-b-que was the culmination of the special week's festivities held on the main lawn and served through the window of a Salvation Army canteen truck.  A gentle reminder of how The Salvation Army can be anywhere it needs to be at  a moments notice helping those who need it most.
