Our Training Principal, Major Tim Foley, was recently notified by the Vice President for Academic Affairs at Oxford Graduate School in Tennessee that “Misty has completed the prescribed course of study for the PhD, and the diploma will be presented to her at their annual commencement in September.” Misty has served at Crestmont since 1998 as the Director of Library Services, and this year, the Museum was added to her administrative portfolio. She also designs and teaches courses in English, Information Literacy, Biblical Studies and Comparative Religion. Prior to coming to Crestmont, Misty had experience in public library work as well as leadership roles in technical libraries in the corporate sector.

Misty has a strong academic background having completed her baccalaureate degree at UCLA and a Masters degree in Library Science from the University of Missouri. In between this study and her PhD, she completed three additional graduate degrees from the Master’s international School of Divinity in Christian Studies in Theology, Biblical Studies in Theology and Spiritual Leadership.

Her husband, Harold, has a PhD in Electrical Engineering from MIT, and both her daughter Leonie, and son, Eric, graduated from military service academies. Leonie graduated from the US Naval Academy, and she serves currently as a Captain in the Marine Corps. Eric graduated from the US Air Force Academy and serves currently as a Lieutenant. Eric is also enrolled presently in the Rand-Pardee PhD program through the Rand Corporation.

Major Brian Jones commented that “Misty is one of our gifted faculty members; she makes a difference in cadet lives and in the life of the college.” Dr. Jim Hartman noted that “Her recent selection by WASC to serve on a visiting accreditation team is a reflection of her talent and her insightfulness.” Our Training Principal, Major Tim Foley commended Misty for her commitment to academic training and to the areas of information literacy and teaching. “Misty is creative and multi-faceted in her teaching and administrative work. Her completion of the PhD program is a testimony to her pursuit of knowledge and her steadfast commitment to gain knowledge to share it with others.” All the faculty and staff at Crestmont congratulate Misty on her latest accomplishment.
